Log book
What is a log book?
The V5C document is more commonly known as the registration document or log book. The V5C is an official record of who owns the vehicle and is a vitally important document when either buying or selling.
Important information
Losing your V5C for is not a disaster, but if you have, it is imperative that you notify the DVLA in writing informing them that you have scrapped your vehicle.
We will notify the DVLA that it is SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) when we take your car to the depolution centre and is therefore ready to be de-registered. However, if you DO NOT notify the DVLA in writing personally, then there is a possibility that they could decide to prosecute and fine you. The reason for this is because you are required by law to notify the DVLA that you have scrapped your vehicle, therefore please make sure you do this to avoid possible action being taken against you.
We also strongly advise you that when sending the documents you do so by recorded delivery.
