FAQs
My car has been standing for some time and may not move.
This is actually quite a common situation but is not a problem at all. It may take longer than usual to remover the vehicle, but rest assured, it WILL be removed!
Does my vehicle need to be complete?
It's fine for you to remove small parts from the vehicle such as wing mirrors, badges, door handles etc, all we ask is that you let us know just how complete the vehicle is at the time of booking so that we can send the recovery vehicle best suited for the job.
I have lost the keys, is this a problem?
No problem at all. We'll need your permission to gain entry into the vehicle but our staff are trained and equipped to deal with this kind of thing.
Do I need the logbook?
Basically no, we don't need the logbook. You will however need to notify the DVLA that you have scrapped your vehicle and it might be a good idea to attach a copy of our 'vehicle surrender form' with the covering letter to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD.
When should I notify the DVLA that I am scrapping my vehicle?
Notify them as soon as we have removed your vehicle, either by sending off the logbook (after completing section 9) or sending a covering letter with a copy of our vehicle surrender form attached.
Can I claim back my unused road tax?
Yes you can. You can go to the DVLA website and download a V14 document or get one from the Post Office.
What do I need to do before and after collection of my vehicle?
Make sure you have removed all personal belongings from the vehicle and also the tax disc if you want to claim back any unused tax. Then complete section 9 of your logbook and send it to the DVLA. If you don't have the logbook you must notify them in writing attaching a copy of our vehicle surrender form, our driver will have one for you to complete if you are unable to print one yourself. Always send correspondence to the DVLA by recorded delivery). If you do not notify them you could be fined.

No, not at all. We can arrange for you to leave the keys and documentation somewhere.
I would like to keep the registration number, is this possible?
It is possible but you need to apply via the DVLA and once approved, you will receive a V778 Retention Document. Do NOT scrap or sell your vehicle until you have this document.
